PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE
PAST: The Winter Celebration was huge!
Great turnout, great food and drink, what more could we ask for! We think more than 100 residents joined in to celebrate the season, make new friends and catch up with old ones, and even watch the end of the SEC game (sorry, fans, that wasn’t the fun part!).
Congrats to our Social Committee who put on the whiz-bang event! Keith, Emily, Tabitha, Georgiann, Leigh, and absent from pix, Laura Hedelson, Chairperson (who sadly had to work that evening). More pictures at the end of this post.
PRESENT: The Food Drive ends in about one week
Still time to make your donations.
You’ll find boxes inside and outside the clubhouse for ease of dropping them. Canned and dry goods are most needed. Remember no pet foods, no condiments, no perishables.
Let’s fill those boxes! You’ll make a happy holiday for someone!
AND MORE: New Landscaping Committee underway
Board Member Keith Covert is undertaking the start of the Landscaping Committee. We know this is a hot topic! Here’s the info:
“Glenwood Green, as the name states, should be a beautiful green place. In order to make sure that GG currently is and remains that way, we are starting a Landscaping Committee to bring pointed attention to our surroundings.
First meeting: Sunday, December 16 at 6:30 pm in the Clubhouse. You do not need to have any experience in landscaping in order to be a part of this committee. All you need is an interest in the grounds being taken care of and looking nice. There is much to be done and we can use all the help we can get.
Some of the topics that will be covered in this committee are the BeltLine entranceway, landscape improvement planning, budgeting and review, complaints, suggestions, etc. all as it relates to the community grounds. This is the first landscaping committee meeting that this community has ever had. We want to start productively channeling our efforts as soon as possible. If you can’t make it to this one don’t worry, we will have many more landscaping committee meetings to come. They are currently planned for the third Sunday of every month. I hope to see you all there.” K.C.
FUTURE: Social Committee Plans for 2019
Laura Hedelson, Chairperson, reported to this Newsletter tentative plans for 2019. First, yes, there will be Super Bowl Party, Sunday, February 3. Of course! Since Atlanta is hosting this event, it’s only appropriate we celebrate in kind. More details coming soon.
During 2019, the Committee envisions two Special Events during the year: The Summer Pool Party and the Winter Celebration. These will continue to be funded by the HOA, with resident contributions as well.
During the rest of the year, other activities considered are pot lucks and dinner parties, maybe a progressive dinner party, game night, book club, wine night. The idea here is that these will be smaller events and taken on by interested residents. The various events might be regularly scheduled or one-offs, and vary in size. And one aspect: minimal or no cost to HOA funds but rather contributed to by the residents’ participating.
If you’d like to be a part of one these – or maybe even taking on the coordination of one of them, please let Laura know your interest. Or anything else you would like to suggest. Nothing like having fun activities around here that we can walk to! Email her here: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tip of the Month: Heavy mail & package deliveries this month. If you see something in the wrong bin, help your neighbor find it by placing in the right bin. We’ll all benefit!
